Eyelid Surgery Thailand

Starting From Only $575 AUD!

The eyes are the windows of the soul and it's unfortunate when they're adorned with uneven eyelids, or when age or the wear and tear of life has caused puffiness and bags around them. Fortunately, you don't have to live with that sleepy, tired look. Explore the alternative of eyelid surgery - a safe, easy and effective way to make your eyes appear more youthful, rested and alert. With Destination Beauty handling your personal consultation with a real surgeon and answering all your questions, the process is painless and easy!

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is an outpatient procedure that reshapes and tightens the tissues around the eyes. It can treat any or all of the following conditions:

  • Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid
  • Puffiness in the upper eyelids
  • Droopiness of the lower eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

Depending on the extent of the work to be done, eyelid surgery takes one to three hours. It is performed under local anesthesia, so you will be awake during the surgery but will be relaxed and not feel pain.

The Procedure

The incisions are made along the natural lines of your eyelids - in the upper eyelid creases and just below the lower eyelashes. The incisions may extend into the crow's feet or laugh lines at the outer corners of your eyes. The surgeon then separates the skin from the underlying tissue and muscle, removes the excess fat and trims sagging skin and muscle. But note that the surgery does not remove crow's feet or other wrinkles, or eliminate dark circles around your eyes. Asians can also create double eyelids by adding a crease on the upper eyelids.

You will experience mostly temporary side effects after the procedure. These may include:

  • Soreness, swelling and bruising around your eyes
  • Eye sensitivity to light and wind
  • Dry, itchy eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Double or blurred vision
  • Discoloration of the skin on your eyelid
  • Scarring

You are at higher risk of having any complications if you have high blood pressure, heart disease or thyroid problems. That is why it is very important that during consultations, you disclose to your surgeon if you have any of these conditions. Aside from assessing your fitness to undergo the operation, it is also during consultation that you will be advised on the important points and steps in preparation for the surgery. Generally, you will be asked to stop smoking tobacco products and consuming alcoholic beverages two weeks before (and after) the operation. You will also be required to adjust the dosage or completely stop taking certain medications and supplements as these may cause problems later on.

Recovery

After the operation, you can take over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen for any discomfort, but do not take aspirin as this can cause increased bleeding. To help reduce the swelling and bruising around your eyes, you can apply cold compress such as ice wrapped in a towel. Do not put ice directly on your skin. Other important tips to remember while recovering are:

  • Keep your head elevated for a few days and avoid bending down
  • Sleep with your head propped up on pillows
  • Use clean, plain water in washing your face
  • Use any ointment or drops your surgeon gives you
  • Ask your surgeon's permission before wearing eye make up
  • Do not wear contact lenses for at least two weeks
  • Do not drive until your vision returns to normal

If you have proper rest and you follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter, you can expect to back to work seven to ten days after the surgery.

Key Procedure Detail

Key Procedure Detail

There's a lot to know about having this procedure done, but we've broken down the key details for all our Australian friends out there!

Prices Start at $575 AUD

Our partner hospitals offer this procedure starting at an actual cost of $575 AUD, but your personal situation along with the hospital you choose and the surgeon's recommendation will determine the final quoted price - but don't worry, we'll work with you on that :)

Spend 10 days in Thailand

You will need to plan to spend 10 days in Thailand to allow for proper recovery and a final checkup before returning to Australia.

And No Nights in Hospital

Eyelid surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so while the staff at the hospital will make sure that you're in good shape afterward, there's usually no reason to keep you at the hospital overnight and you'll be free to return to your vacation soon after your procedure has finished - provided that you follow the post-surgical guidelines, of course.

Initial Recovery: 14 Days

The surgeon will discuss the full recovery period with you, but you'll need to spend these days in Thailand for an initial recovery period just to make sure everything's going fine before you head back to Australia.

Under General Anesthesia

The procedure is performed under General Anesthesia, meaning that you'll be awake for the duration and shouldn't experience any pain or discomfort.

What Does The Cost Cover?

The cost will cover everything related to your surgery itself, your care and the services needed to make sure you get the best results possible! That means that the cost covers your hospital stay, surgeon's consultation, the procedure itself, any medication, any follow-up checkup you might have, the meals you're served - and a free gift from us :) We always do our best to quote you the full price up front and we NEVER CHARGE A BOOKING FEE. We just want to make that clear, because many companies in Australia do!
